Im a housewife

I made sambal belacan this morning. The thought came yesterday and I bought the ingredients while I was out with Krison yesterday. Yes its wierd, why am I making things like that? Im bored lah...have nothing better to do so when the feeling to cook comes ,I just do it.

Its quite easy to make the sambal with the help of a food processor. But I had to use a the pounding tool so that the chilli did'nt become too fine. The end product was almost like what my grandmother used to make. So I spent the whole morning just to make a small kaya tub of sambal.

Cooked for my Dad as well. He's not a very good cook. Took out pork use for cooking stock and cut up too much onions (around 3 bulbs)for 3 eggs. Ended up I need to slice meat from the pork bones and instead of onion omelet, we had onions fried with egg! Theres simply too much onions for 3 eggs.

Happy Birthday Janet!

Helped celebrated Janet's birthday at Crystal Jade Kitchen yesterday. We had dim sum, it was good but I think we ordered too much. Hee. Anyway Janet is Gina's mother lah, I dont know why I can click so well with aunties. Even Beven's mother likes me....Oh my!

I felt wierd as it was kinda like a family gathering . You see , there were no outsiders other than Colin's girlfriend. But im not Gina's boyfriend what I wonder why I was there also. So akward! But since I was invited ,might as well go if not its rude to the birthday babe rite?

Worms

In todays papers, I read about the Traditional Chinese Medicine called Cordyceps(Dong Cong Cao). Ive seen it from young, and was confused about wether it was a plant or a worm. My uncle told me it was worms when I was young, and I would go like " euuuu". My grandma's answered was more out of this world. She said as Dong chong xia cao( winter worm summer grass), it was suppose to be a worm in the winter and turns into a plant in summer. How to morph like that? HahaI Later in the years thought I believed it was a plant that looked like worms so its safe to eat.

Today, the truth finally came to me. It was actually fungus grown on the carcass of catapillars! Yucks I thought! Well there are still many yucky things in TCM, so I guess this is nothing compared to dried lizards.

Photo taken in the toilet of our camp. I only used this ancient bathing facility onced, thats when the cubicles were all occupied and I didnt have the patience to wait. At other times, I prefered to use cubicles because I dont understand why our modesty were compromised. But then again, there were'nt enough cubicles in the toilet so there needs to be a caste system.

The School

This is the school that we painted during our community service. I only painted a small part of the wall. No! Its not because im lazy, its just that too many cooks spoil the soup. I'd rather watch the children sing!




An elephant in the river! Near the River Kwai, there were elephants on the street and from far they were cute. But I didnt dare go near them, fearing they must slick saliva on my face. Haha im a sissy sia!

Photos From Thailand!

I finally managed to get the photos taken in Thailand. So lets have a look at some of them together:


A photo taken before we move out for the ATEC mission. I hate putting on camoflauge cream on my face because from experience, it always cause me to have breakouts. Theres my CQ Ker and storeman Fauzi. Fauzi commented that Ker looks like Ninja Turtle when he puts on camo and his helmet. I agree too! And we have a great time laughing at the Turtle!

The Driver, SomChai calles Fauzi Ninja because Fauzi always wraps a cloth around his nose and mouth while sitting behind. The amount of dust blown up by the tyres outrageous so its better to cover your nose to make it easier to breathe.


Thats a tonner being camoflauged. Other than putting up the net and taking turns to keep the area safe from enemies,we got nothing much to do outfield. So there will be tonnes of opportunities to take photos. Well as proven so.




See the photo above? It might be a ghost in the midst of the Forest or just some light reflection. We prefer not to think to complicated because at that time we were out in the wilderness, away from our homeland. There could be things we do not know that existed.





Going back to camp. The moment we have all been waiting for! After a days out in the wild, all I wanted is a shower, some clean clothes and of course, Food! We had a little banquet dinner ad provided by our camp. A 10 course dinner but it sucked! Well for rural standards it may be a feast but not for a prince like me!

Thats a photo taken during the rest and relax activity. It was the best meal as compared to the other catered meals .Although the food was cold, it generally tasted better. But still it cant be compared to the food sold in the canteen. Good and Cheap and Warm.

The Girl in the brown jacket is Jiab,who sells food in one of the canteen stalls. Kelvin Chang is interested in her and they still sms each other. Today I asked him how are things going, he replied that she called from Thailand days ago and tried to start a conversation.

Jiab: Hi ,howare you doing? ( Of course the conversation was in broken english since Jiab cant speak fluently)
KC: Im fine, how about you?
Jiab: Im fine too, just tiring
KC: I think you should go to sleep.

Haha how ironic!The girl of your dreams calls you and them you ask her to go to sleep. Sometimes Kelvin does things that does'nt make sense. Maybe sending her an email would be better?

See the other 'girl' in white? Shes actually a guy,we call him Jenny. Her actions are just so amusing, a very feminine guy.She always give me discount lar because we always buy from her and I teach her simple English . I patronise her stall because there's this other girl, Naam.

Pinky Panties

I was considering wether I should wear red underwear during the New Year so I could be heng heng. But alas I didnt have any decent red briefs and chucked the idea aside. Today, I finally had pink underwear! Thanks to my Dad!

No he didnt buy them, who could be so sick as to buy pink underwear for his son?! He washed my sister's laundry with ours, without separating them. Now my sister always separate the darks from the lights. In today's case, all went in together and my white Calvin Kleins become pink from my Sister's red skirt! She has'nt seen them yet, but I bet she's gonna blow her top when she sees her whites become pink.

Uncle Jim and Pat, my mum's best friend cum client sent me and my sister a USD $50 red packet. So im suddenly $82 richer, my Mum is the money changer for tonight. Hee Chinese New Year is not so bad after all. Just a few days of acting and you'll get enough to spend for next 3 months :)

The Past Week

I havent been updating my blog recently because I've been busy visiting and collecting taxes. So far tax collection has been good. It could have been better if I didnt lose at blackjack last night.

Talking about yesterday makes me mad! Banker at Blackjack keep busting and the banker is me. So $2 keep flying off the table,when it was others turn to be banker,they get blackjack! What the hell is with my luck? Luckily I can still recoup some losses at the mahjong table. The mahjong tiles has been good to me thank god! Lost around $30 minus winnings at mahjong. The Sally and Gina banker combo won $130!!!!! Not kidding.Xiaoting lost the most I guess at both tables.

Ok so we went for a movie at Tampines Mall. Watched I Do I Do with the usual poly gang. Gina,Charmaine,Ferrene,JR and Me! The movie was erm...I dont know,seems like a drama on TV. But overall it was still ok. Proceeded to Selegie forPrata after the movie, dont know why they wanted to go there the Prata was normal. .rather go for porridge.

The Freshest Fish in the World

I was watching this Chinese cuisine show on Channel U. It was featuring this carp which is really fresh,let me describe the cooking method.

1)The carp is caught from the tank
2)Descale the fish and make cuts in the flesh
3)The head and the heart of the fish is wrapped in wet cloth so that it stays alive during the frying process (YES the fish is ALIVE! Notice I did'nt mention to kill the fish?)
4) Fry the body of the fish while holding the head in wet cloth
5)Carp is served and while its still grasping for its breath

How could anyone have to heart to eat it? If there was'nt the head,I would eat it bacause its just like any other dead fish but this is different! The eyes of the carp is wide open looking at the diner while he picks the flesh from its body. At this point,I would'nt imagine being the carp...would be my worst nightmare.

No im not in the photo! I was just surfing friendster and on Mandy's page theres a photo of one of her friends. Im juz disappointed at the standard of Male Crew nowadays! Or maybe its always been like that and I've been seeing the cream of the crop? Charles' colleague is much much better man... Hey to the people in the photo,dont beat me if you see me on the street. I doubt you'll recognise me in my cap and surgical mask.

Im Sick!

Woke up in the early afternoon today, felt sick. After breakfast wanted to sleep because I was exhausted but I could'nt. Only managed to take a small nap before dinner. At dinner, I only had a small bowl of rice, no appetite? Or maybe I just had a packet of rice an hour before?

Im still coughing and having a blocked nose. At least its better than last night which I could'nt talk. Yeah anyway I saw Sun Yanzi at Crystal Jade last night. She has been the one singing on my stereo and now finally I get to see her face to face. :) OK lah no big deal.

Body Malfunction

My throat is feeling bad and I juz coughed up a big piece of gunk. Have to keep clearing my nose and throat if not I think I'll choke and die from them. Had some throat soothing tea in the morning and more medication. Hope I'll feel better by the evening.

While I was waiting for a bus behind my house, I saw a flock of about 10-12 lovebirds. You know those mini parrot like looking birds that are in green and yellow? Yeap they were flying in a type of formation I thought only pilots in the Air Force knew. Dont know if they are residents of Singapore or juz tourist(migratory birds).

I thought it was Friday already!

Im obsessed with this olympus M:robe 500i currently. But its not launched in Singapore yet, even if it is I might not find enough cash to buy it. Its so stylo..can view photo somemore. It surpasses the Ipod in the look factor. The creative Zen micro is good as well but too bad only 5 GB, my photo collection are already 1.5 GB!


My mum has been complained to me how my Dad is being calculative with her over money. Come'on, if he wants to be calculative just do the same back to him lah. I dont know whats with them really. My Dad's not working now the only income is from my mum. Well I dont get any allowance from them so I should'nt be the one feeling guilty. I need a good education to find a great job that can sustain the kind of life I want to live in the future.

Kelvin is a Lazy Spoilt Brat with a Spare Tyre and fails IPPT

Mum took me to an eye specialist at Mount E today to check my eye. I find it ridiculous when the doctors said im not a suitable candidate for contact lense and the blood clot will go away without an operation, just on eye drops alone will make it subside. Well I might as well give it a try and see what happens after 6 weeks. The down side is I will have to apply eye drops 4 times every day and wear less of contact lenses. At this point I dont have a clue who to trust.

The pupil dilation made me sensitive to the sunlight and I had trouble walking from the hospital to Far East Plaza for a hair cut. Even normal sunlight make me feel like closing my eyes. I had to keep to the shade, somewhat like a vampire.After the haircut, I went to the ground floor of Duty Free Shop ,which was cool and dark. Lingered there for awhile before I proceeded to Hotel by the Plaza and dozed off on the couch. Waited there until dusk before I could walk out without any sunlight irritating me.

Met up with really cool people in the evening. WF,JR,Char,Fer,Quiling,Gina and Vivien. Really miss them alot. Its really great that I can get to spend time with them again, espcially Vivien, dont know why I really missed her and her quirky nature. The 4 pigs were having a crazy time taking photos as usual. Wf had her hair dyed bright red and I think Char is going to have hers purple tomorrow. Gosh when was the last time I had colour on my hair? I love brown hair!







Im really broke, with only close to $200 left in my bank account. Never did I have it drop to such low levels. Must be because of the advance pay Ive gotten in December and the next paycheck is going to come in on the 4th. Got to spend less this week.

This Is Home Truly

Hey for those people who've missed me, Im back! Touched down at 0220 with Thai Airways. The crew arn't really friendly,theres this bo chup look on their faces. But then again who enjoys serving army boys who make alot of noise ,especially the malay shit heads. I slept throughout the flight,feeling sick and had gastric trouble because I didnt had enough dinner. I was filled with 1 litre of milk at dinner time.
The bus ride to the Thai Air Base (we took the flight from the Air Base)was fucked up, the air conditioner broke down it was pratically steaming us inside. Windows were fogged from inside and some, including me removed our tops to keep cooler. Will keep posting about my trip.
