Chow Chow or Bear

Anyway this morning my boss told me this story about buying dogs from Chatuchak market in Bangkok. Her brother in law's friend went to JJ market to buy a chow chow. They brought it back to singapore, cleared all the inspections and quaratine by AVA. Its cheaper than buying a dog in singapore after all cost factored in. (Take note dog lovers)
After a few weeks, he realise that his chow chow is eating alot and he asked his friend how his dog's appetite is. The other dog didnt seem to eat so much. So he brought the dog to the vet for a check up.

I thought they found worms in the dog....but.....

The vet said "This is not a Chow Chow, its a bear!"

Its now in the Singapore Zoo. Dont know true or not, sounds absurd but my boss say one leh. Should have some truth in it. Maybe AVA trying to hid their mistake thats why we dont see it on the papers.

My first day at work!

Today 13th Jun 2007, my first day at work. Started really well, my boss as me to join them in the pantry for breakfast although its 8.30 am already, the time im suppose to start work. So I followed and she introduced me to other colleuges. There are about 10 of us in a team. I was offered a packed of kuay teow, dont know if its supplied by the company or somebody bought it. But there were many packets, too bad I had Macdonalds earlier.

In mid afternoon there was this aunty giving out packets of fruits (pear and orange) for today. Apparantly every wednesday they will do this. Sweet isnt it?I think work is going to be busy after i learn the ropes. Today I spent my time surfing net, waiting for people to chat to me on msn, smsing, reading economist. Its all because my mentor has to close all the postions by a certain timing and has not time to teach me stuff.


Tried calling Hong Kong banks to match trades and I got a hard time understanding them because their Cantonese accent is so strong. "We buy you sell" "We sell you buy" They speak so fast I always cant catch what they are saying.

This is the treasure trove in the pantry. Wah never in my life have i worked in a company with such a pantry. Full of stuff. And after lunch there is snacks of pasteries and tidbits bought by the employees. How to not grow fat working in a company like that? Well check on me next month see if I've gained weight.

I was lasiked

Hi,

This is my 1st day with eyes that can see far without contacts or glasses. Yesterday i went for my lasik sugery at Paragon. It was supposed to be Sat but one of the spare parts failed and they have to postphone the date to Sunday, which they compensated me $200 for it. Not bad la.

Its not painful, but its jus scary. Because I was scared if i moved my eye a little it will cause the result to be flawed. Feels like MI 3 eye transplant sugery. But i rest assure you there is absolutely no pain.

Abit cloudy vision last night but today it was better. I just got to stay away from smokey places, which means no clubbing on wed night before vesak.

Life after exams

So I just came back from BKK. Didnt do much there, go to the usual places to buy my clothes. But many first times this trip

1. Took an airport bus from the airport to hotel
2. Took a 7 baht public bus to shop,because lazy to walk. Bus doesnt stop at bus bay but 3 lanes away,got to run to get on bus while watching for oncomming traffic and all the while the bus is moving forward at slow speed.
3. Eating a home cooked meal by Bee's mum

Didnt have much time to shop la....very rush. Well its my last holiday for now.

Spiderman 3

Just got back from watching Spiderman 3 at lido. The screens were huge, frankly its my first time in such a big theatre. Hee mountain tortoise, but Im not a fan of movies anyway.

I thought Spidey was great, although someone told me its too much story in the show. Im looking forward to Harry Potter next!

Some random tidbits from the show:

• Singaporean parliament will love sandman (Its obvious)
• Why sandman doesnt turn into glassman after contact with high heat?
• Sandman's sick daughter has a slight tummy
• Peter parker has double chin
• Spiderman doesnt get hurt while standing in front of explosion

Im getting very stressed up because of my Investment and IME paper. Its so darn difficult!

Only the best can soar? Part II

After round 1 it was already 1.15. The staff told us to get our lunch first and come back at 2.15 pm. So i volunteered to drive the guys from my group for lunch at newton circus (my first time there). I didnt know they inflated the price so much that fish porridge can cost $4.

Back at the hotel, we waited till 4+ until we were ready to be interviewed. Cut the story short, the lady who interviewed me was very nice. She let me start off with the oral test first, I had a few difficulties pronouncing words like crisp and gasp. I said creeps and gaps.

After that she asked me a series of questions which include "How much information do you know about SIA?", "Why do you wana apply for this job?", "What is good customer service to you?","Why do you think you are a suitable candidate for the job".

In the end she gave me a slip of paper...I passed! Wah. So now Im waiting for 3rd may for water confidence test. Hope everything goes fine for it and the 2 person interview. Wish me luck!

Only the best can soar? Part I

Im done revising for today so time to blog about some exciting news. I passed 2 rounds of SIA cabin crew interview. Yeay!

I was there at 915 pm...spent alot of time retying the knot on my tie....because the last time I did it was in polytechnic. So when I reached there....in the hotel lobby i saw the queue, but no end to it. Followed it upstairs and round and round....finally found the end. Maybe there were 300 ppl in the queue which snaked around level 2 and level 1 staircase.

Finally when i reach the front in about 45 mins, its only just handing in the form and grouped into groups of 10 and ushered into a waiting area where i spend another hour.During the first interview i was expecting to do a self intro and I would just read out my script which i wrote the day before.

The interviewer said "I would like you guys to tell me your favourite food in singapore." Gosh im not prepared.....but I just gave a practical answer.I said I dont have any favourite food but I would choose chicken rice, because during rush hour in school, its always packed. Chicken rice I can get it fast,eat fast and its not boring because there are alot of sauces to go with. Abit dumb but it worked.

I was waiting anxiously outside the room when we were done,then the staff came out with a list. Luckily she called out my name...wa so relieved! Out of 10 of us, 6 got in and I guess the interviewers were 2 young ladies. :)

Lasik?

Just called up the Lasik center in paragon to book an evaluation appointment and some enquiries. I knew the price was $2780. So i told her i might do the operation in end May and the staff asked me why wait until May? Because I can do the test on fri and the operation on Sat.I told her because I still got one pair of contact lenses for May so I want to finish it first so as not to waste the money.

She replied "If thats your concern, why dont I give you a discount? It is normally $2780 but now I can lower the price to $2500 if you do it in april.So your saving more than your contact lenses."

Wa kao, didnt know medical centers also can bargain. Well I might do it this Saturday. I'll think about it for 2 days. $2500 bao ga liao its not expensive....considering im paying by installments.

Any recommendation? You guys think I should do it this Sat or wait?

I wana eat but its a chore!

Im so disappointed with myself because I didn't take care of myself and got a row of ulcers under my tongue. It looks like suckers on the legs of an octopus. Its very painful my tongue is paralysed, I got to move my head to shift the food for chewing. I don't know how I got them but I guess I haven't been getting enough rest or water.

Just to clear things up, the above is not my ulcers they are octupus rings.

Today's the last day of school. Mugging has got to begin, but I'll postpone it till Saturday ,going roller skating with pocky tomorrow. It shall be fun! No more french fries from MacDonald's tomorrow.
